Work

Currently, I work on the International Movie team at Amazon MGM Studios (Prime Video) where I have been responsible for the creative execution, content strategy, and live events management of our films. Also at Amazon, I was the coordinator on the Business Affairs and Production Operations team, working across scripted and unscripted deal negotiations and contracts, and managing complex operational projects. Prior to that, I worked with the Amazon live events team, where I led the planning, project management, and execution of large-scale international and domestic events. I also worked as a marketing manager, leading a team of six and building strategic marketing and communications campaigns to drive engagement and event attendance.

Education

I graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in political science and a focus in political ecology, analyzing how the climate crisis has disproportionately impacted low income communities and communities of color. Whether researching a topic for an article, a film, or my personal edification, I am very passionate about examining political, economic, and social structures from the historically underrepresented and marginalized perspective. I am pursuing a masters degree in environmental science and climate communications.

Story

Growing up in rural Pacific Northwest, nature intersected with every aspect of my life. It led me to develop a deep connection with and reverence for it, informing my lifelong commitment to climate justice, conservation, and outdoor equity. Perhaps most influential was witnessing the impact it had on my grandfather, a somber man who came alive in nature. As a second generation immigrant, my family came to the United States fleeing a dictatorship. For my grandfather, the Oregon wilderness resembled his beloved homeland, and had a way of remedying the diasporic grief he carried from that loss. Seeing the profound and undeniable healing it provided made me a fierce advocate of outdoor access for all.

Living between a rural town, an immigrant community, and the big cities of the West Coast, I have heard my fair share of perspectives on current events. Some eye opening, some questionable, and some completely conspiratorial. When gaining insight into new viewpoints, I’m driven to understand not just what people believe, but what leads them to believe it and why. I’ve found that any attempts to challenge and dismantle ideas with understanding of the former and not the latter almost always fall short, and can come off as insincere. As we’ve experienced an unprecedented rise of fake news and conspiracy theories, I’ve gone back to the basics, finding common ground and shared humanity to begin conversations that change hearts and minds.
